Three thousand enjoyed the 2006 Phoenix Park fun day

MORE than three thousand people flocked to a park this summer to enjoy a day of fun

in the sun, blended with entertainment and diversity. phoenix park, Blakenhall played host to the Community Fun Day and visitors were treated to an afternoon of free entertainment, including Asian drummers, a gospel choir, a rock band and Bollywood-style dancers.

The annual event is a chance for people from the All Saints, Blakenhall and Parkfield areas to get together and celebrate their diverse communities.

Mayor of Wolverhampton Councillor John Davis carried out the opening ceremony and he joined participants in a sponsored walk around the park to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.

As well as the performers, there was also a marquee housing Local groups, including the Gujarati Women's Group and Blakenhall-based charity Love and Care, served food.

Wolves In The Community held a penalty shoot-out competition, mascot Wolfie paid a visit and there was also a fun fair and children's play workshops.
