Working with schools

The Friends of Phoenix Park Working and Supporting  Local Schools

The Friends of Phoenix Park have been working with Believe to Achieve (B2A) a local charity group who have been set up to connect local schools & the community to enhance individual standards, they do a really good job, they work with the local schools and bring them to phoenix park, B2A work in partnership with the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers (BTCV) with funds raised by the Friends of Phoenix Park.

You may well ask why we have put a lot of effort into the nature trails project, we had a lot of overgrown shrubs in the woodland around the parks perimeter, what do you do with woodland once the overgrowth has been cleared away to discourage the drug users and other antisocial behaviour from using the overgrowth around the park to hide in.

This strategy works we have moved them away from the areas that have been cleared, once you have the clean woodland how do you keep it clean and how can this woodland be of use.

Its an educational asset that local schools can tap into and use, its good for the park, its good for the schools, It’s also good for the children's environmental education, If they have had some sort of input and have helped do some of the work, you will learn to respect public open space and it will help young people to take pride in the local area.
